HBL has issued a safety alert for debit and credit card holders in Pakistan, urging customers to protect their banking information from scammers.

The bank has warned that scammers may try to steal personal and financial details to make unauthorised transactions.

In its public advisory, HBL advised customers to remain careful when using bank cards, mobile banking apps and online payment services.

HBL has advised customers never to share their debit or credit card numbers, card verification values (CVVs), personal identification numbers (PINs) or one-time passwords (OTPs) with anyone.

These details are sensitive and can be misused by fraudsters to access accounts or make payments without permission.

Customers should also be cautious if someone contacts them unexpectedly and asks for banking information.

Scammers may pretend to be bank employees or other trusted representatives to convince to disclose confidential details.

Secure websites and suspicious activities

HBL has also encouraged customers to use trusted websites and secure internet connections when making online payments.

People should avoid entering their card details on unfamiliar websites or through suspicious links.

Customers should check website addresses carefully before completing transactions and remain alert while using online banking services.

As an additional safety measure, cardholders can regularly review their account activity and transaction notifications, helping them identify unusual payments or withdrawals at an early stage.

Customers are advised to immediately contact their bank through its official helpline or banking application upon any suspicious activity.

Following basic security precautions, debit and credit card holders can reduce the risk of scams and unauthorised transactions.
