Details of the facilities provided to the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan at Adiala Jail have come to light for the first time following the submission of a report by the jail superintendent to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to the report Imran Khan is housed in a compound consisting of seven cells. In front of his cell is a 57-foot-long and 14-foot-wide corridor while an adjacent 35/37 lawn is also part of the compound.
The report states that he spends time in the lawn reading books and newspapers and sitting in the sunlight.
The superintendent’s report further reveals that the seven-cell compound has the capacity to accommodate 30 to 35 prisoners and that Imran Khan has been provided with exercise equipment including a cycling machine and other gym facilities.
Details of his diet were also shared in the report. For breakfast he is provided with dates, walnuts, honey, coffee, porridge, lassi, warm milk, chia seeds as well as sweet lime and pomegranate juice. Lunch reportedly includes desi chicken, mutton, salad, mixed pickles, potato chips, fried eggs, and mixed lentils. In the evening he consumes a shake made of almonds, raisins, coconut powder, milk, dates, banana and apple.
The report states that Imran Khan has access to natural light and fresh air from morning till evening and is being kept in a secure environment. It further confirms that he has been provided better class facilities at Adiala Jail as outlined in the superintendent’s submission to the Supreme Court.
Imran Khan’s medical report
According to the report, the 73 year old underwent a detailed medical check up on February 15, 2026. A special medical board conducted the check up.
The board included Professor Dr Nadeem Qureshi from Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital and Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Khan from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The report stated that Imran Khan’s central macular thickness has reduced from 550 to 350. It indicated a marked improvement.
The vision in his affected right eye improved from 6/36 to 6/9. The doctors said that the situation was satisfactory at the current stage.
Without glasses, his right eye vision was recorded at 6/24. And the left eye was 6/9. With corrective glasses, the right eye improved to 6/9, and the left eye reached 6/6.
