Earthquake tremors felt in Islamabad, KP

Earthquake tremors have been felt in the federal capital of Pakistan, Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday.

Tremors have been felt in Swat and its surrounding areas. Swabi and Peshawar were also shaken by the tremors.

According to PMD Islamabad, an earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale was recorded on February 25, 2026. The tremors were felt at 4:12 PM PST.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 114 kilometres. Its epicentre is located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan (36.99°N, 71.41°E).

Tremors were felt in several areas, including Islamabad, Swat, Peshawar, and Chitral.

Islamabad hit by second earthquake in 24 hours

Just last week, on Sunday, February 21, earthquake tremors hit Islamabad and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Attock and Swabi.

According to the Seismological Centre, the quake registered 4.4 on the Richter scale. Its depth was recorded at 14 kilometres.

Officials reported the epicentre was situated 11 kilometres northeast of the Burhan area in Attock district.

The tremors follow a stronger earthquake felt in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa just a day earlier than the previous one.

The previous earthquake measured 5.6 in magnitude, at a depth of 73 kilometres. Additionally, its epicentre was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.

According to reports, tremors were also felt in Hangu, Kohat, Buner, Shangla, North Waziristan, Bajaur, Swat, Swabi and Upper Dir. The earthquake caused fear among residents in these areas.

Tremors were also reported in the federal capital, Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Thursday. Many people left their homes and offices in panic.
