An earthquake was felt in Islamabad and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, prompting residents to leave their homes and offices as the tremors were experienced across the region. The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.3.
According to initial reports, the earthquake was felt in the federal capital as well as Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Shangla, Kurram and Buner.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.
Authorities are monitoring the situation, while details regarding the earthquake’s magnitude, depth and epicentre are awaited from the relevant seismic monitoring agencies.

Earlier, the United States (US), Cuba, and Iran have shown commitment to help Venezuela after deadly back-to-back earthquakes hit the country.
Earlier, on June 24, twin deadly earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 hit Venezuela. The current death toll after the two back-to-back earthquakes is 164, with more than 1000 injured in Venezuela, the global media outlet reported on Thursday.
The spokesperson of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Tommaso Della Longa, said that the twin earthquakes hit Venezuela at a time when the country was struggling with multiple issues. He further showed concerns that these two earthquakes would increase the difficulties of the country.
