England U-19 defeated Pakistan U-19 by 10 runs in the four-day match. Chasing a target of 262 runs, Pakistan U-19 were bowled out for 251. Abdul Qadir top-scored with 80 runs, while Farhan Yousuf contributed 47 runs.
In England U-19’s second innings, Ahmed Hussain took four wickets, Mohammad Huzaifa claimed three, and Mohammad Sayyam took two wickets. The four-match ODI series between the two teams will begin on September 9.
On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made sweeping changes to the national Test setup ahead of the third and final Test against England in Birmingham. The board has earlier released seven players from the squad, including Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamir Jamal, Muhammad Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.
Batting coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul have also been relieved of their respective duties. The PCB has brought in seven replacements, five of whom are yet to make their Test debuts, while two have previously represented Pakistan in the longest format.
Former Test players Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal have been recalled after featuring in eight and two Tests, respectively. All-rounder Arafat Minhas has also earned a place in the squad. The left-arm spinner has previously represented Pakistan in three ODIs and four T20Is. The four uncapped additions are left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Imran Jnr, wicketkeeper-batter Saad Baig, right-arm pace-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Imran, better known as Imran Randhawa, and right-arm pace-bowling all-rounder Razaullah. Saad Baig enters the national setup after being named Player of the Tournament in the 2025-26 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
The major squad overhaul comes a day after Pakistan suffered a heavy 194-run defeat to England in the second Test at Lord’s. The result handed England an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Pakistan had also endured a disappointing start to the series, losing the opening Test by an innings and 103 runs. With the series already decided, the final Test in Birmingham will now provide Pakistan with an opportunity to avoid a clean sweep.
