Esports World Cup 2026 to be held outside Saudi Arabia for the first time, now in France

The Esports World Cup 2026 is set to take place outside of Saudi Arabia for the first time in the event’s history, occurring in Paris, France, from July 6 to August 23.

The Esports Foundation announced this decision, explaining that after a thorough evaluation process, and considering the current regional circumstances, the Esports Foundation has chosen to speed up the international rotation goal for the 2026 edition, providing clarity and stability for players, clubs, publishers, partners, and fans globally, while maintaining the tournament’s scale, structure, and competitive integrity.

The 2026 edition of the EWC is expected to host over 2,000 players and 200 clubs from more than 100 countries, competing in 24 games across 25 tournaments for a share of the unexpected prize pool exceeding $75 million.

CEO of the Esports Foundation, Ralf Reichert has said, “Riyadh played a crucial role in transforming the Esports World Cup into a global phenomenon.”
