An Etihad Airways flight bound for Abu Dhabi made an emergency landing at Karachi Jinnah International Airport on Friday shortly after takeoff due to a technical fault.
Flight EY299, operated by an Airbus A320, reportedly developed a technical problem in one of its engines after departing from Karachi.
The pilot contacted air traffic control and safely returned the aircraft to Karachi airport. Etihad Airways confirmed that the flight returned shortly after takeoff because of a technical issue.
All 128 passengers on board remained safe and were shifted to the airport lounge following the landing.
Technical staff and engineers are inspecting the aircraft to determine the cause of the fault.
Further travel arrangements for the affected passengers are also being made.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Karachi and many parts of Sindh over the next few days.
The department also said that some of the areas could face urban flooding as a strong monsoon system moves towards Sindh.
