Fawad Chaudhry trolled after calling female cops “useless”

Former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry has come under heavy criticism on social media after his remarks questioning women joining the police force.

Reacting to the appointment of female cop Kainat Azhar Khan as Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Fawad Chaudhry posted on his official X handle:

“Why women are opting to become police officers? Most of them are completely useless as cops, also it’s terrible career choice even otherwise….”

His comments went viral and faced backlash online after the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police appointed PSP officer Kainat Azhar Khan as Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad, with additional charge as SSP Operations Safe City (Ops).

According to officials, the posting and transfer orders were issued by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. Under the notification, Kainat Azhar Khan, a BS-18 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), was appointed CTO Islamabad after the transfer of Mohammad Sarfraz Virk, whose services were placed at the disposal of the Punjab government.

The statement created widespread reaction from internet users, who criticised Fawad Chaudhry’s remarks.

One user said “Why men are opting to become politicians? Most of them are completely useless as politician, also it’s terrible career choice even otherwise….”

“Maybe they perform better than our corrupt policemen”, another netizen added

“Women represents 51% of Pakistan there should special 50% on women police”, a Twitterati said.

One netizen said, “I would love it if feminists came thrashing you

He got another response “Fawad bhai ,bht low baat ki ha. Practically apko kahi difference feel howa hoga but women in police uniform is need of the hour.”
