Ferrari has unveiled the name and interior design glimpses of its first fully electric sports car. The car now called Ferrari Luce represents a new era in the company’s electric technology and luxury design.
According to media reports “Ferrari Luce” is Ferrari’s first fully electric sports car. The name “Luce” means “light” in Italian. During the early development phase the car was known as Elettrica but it has now been officially introduced under the name Luce.
Ferrari has shared interior highlights of Luce featuring sleek leather finishes comfortable yet sporty bucket seats a steering wheel, instrument panel and control systems. The leather bucket seats are designed to deliver both comfort and a sporty feel.
The interior design prioritizes physical buttons and toggle switches while the touchscreen plays a secondary role. The steering wheel features aluminum switches mounted in glass pods which control driving modes and other key functions. The gauge display consists of layered OLED screens providing the driver with clear and focused information.
The center console includes a classic-style clock that can switch between different functions using needles. The gear shifter is made of glass and moves smoothly within its frame. When the car key is placed in the console it changes color creating a luxurious and dramatic effect.
Ferrari has worked on the design of Luce for five years in collaboration with LoveFrom the creative company founded by Jony Ive and Marc Newson which is famous for designing Apple products.
Luce is equipped with four electric motors one on each wheel delivering more than 1,000 horsepower. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 2.5 seconds.
According to Ferrari Luce will feature a special sound system that amplifies the natural vibrations of the electric motors to give the driver the feeling of a “true electric Ferrari,” without any artificial engine sounds.
The use of glass and aluminum gives the vehicle a modern, lightweight and luxurious character. Ferrari has announced that the full exterior design of Luce will be revealed in May.
With this new model Ferrari is not only moving toward electric mobility but also introducing a new design direction for the brand. Ferrari fans and car enthusiasts have shown great excitement over Luce’s debut and it is expected to set a new benchmark by combining performance, luxury, and electric technology.
