The United States (US) House of Representatives members Ryan Keith Zinke and Michael James met Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday to discuss regional security, defence cooperation and economic ties.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest. It also focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and the US.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted Pakistan’s economic potential. He said lasting regional stability depends on economic growth, stronger trade and better regional connectivity.
He also spoke about the government’s ongoing structural reforms that are expected to improve the business environment and also attract foreign investment.
The ISPR said the US delegation appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability and economic development.
Both sides also discussed expanding bilateral economic cooperation, and encouraging partnerships between the private sectors of both countries and strengthening trade relations.
At the end of the meeting, the US delegation thanked Pakistan’s military leadership for its warm hospitality.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting stronger economic, trade and institutional ties between the United States and Pakistan.
Ryan Keith Zinke represents the US state of Montana in the House of Representatives, while Michael James represents the state of Washington.
Pakistan’s largest data centre
The Prime Minister and Field Marshal Asim Munir inaugurated Pakistan’s largest data centre, named Sky 47 Karakoram 1, on Friday.
Speaking at the ceremony, the prime minister described the project as a major national achievement. He praised the joint efforts of Pakistan’s military and civilian experts in completing the facility in record time.
Further, the PM said that the data centre reflects the country’s growing capabilities in technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and digital infrastructure.
