The Prime Minister and Field Marshal Asim Munir inaugurated Pakistan’s largest data centre, named Sky 47 Karakoram 1, on Friday.
Speaking at the ceremony, the prime minister described the project as a major national achievement. He praised the joint efforts of Pakistan’s military and civilian experts in completing the facility in record time.
Further, the PM said that the data centre reflects the country’s growing capabilities in technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and digital infrastructure.
He also expressed confidence that such initiatives will help build a modern, innovative, and forward-looking Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was also briefed on the Sky 47 Karakoram 1 data centre. It will provide a strong foundation for cloud computing, data hosting and digital services.
The Sky 47 data centre is a significant step towards self-reliance in the field of technology. The data centre is capable of meeting the requirements of AI, machine learning, and high-performance computing.
The Minister of IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, was also present at the inauguration ceremony. She said that the inauguration of the data centre marked the beginning of a new era of AI in Pakistan.
She further stressed that the real value does not only lie in the data but also in turning it into secure, affordable and actionable intelligence.

According to the reports, Sky47 Limited has launched Karakoram-01, Pakistan’s first and largest purpose-built data centre campus.
Mari Energies owns Sky47 through its fully owned subsidiary, Mari Technologies Limited. The company said that the launch follows an announcement that was made before, on January 16, 2026, about the development of Pakistan’s largest cloud and AI infrastructure platform.
According to the company, the launch is an important step for Pakistan’s digital growth. It said the new facility will help strengthen secure and locally hosted digital services in the country.
