Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday to discuss Pakistan Canada relations, regional security and other issues of mutual interest.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two sides discussed defence cooperation, the regional security situation and also the efforts to promote peace and stability.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir shared Pakistan’s position on regional and global peace. He said that countries must work together to deal with shared security challenges.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand praised Pakistan’s efforts and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. She also appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen Pakistan and Canada relations. They also expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation in defence, security and other areas.
The meeting comes as Pakistan and Canada continue to focus on closer cooperation in regional security, counterterrorism and bilateral relations.
Canadian FM praises Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts
