The federal government has made it easier for employees in Grades 1 to 16 to receive time scale promotions under a revised policy, according to reports on Monday.
The Ministry of Finance has issued a new clarification to remove confusion about the time scale policy. It has also directed all federal ministries and related departments to implement the new instructions.
New time scale policy announced
Under the revised policy, eligible federal employees who have completed 10 years of service can now qualify for their first time scale promotion. The move is expected to benefit employees who have remained in the same post for many years.
The ministry also said that assistants promoted to BPS 16 are now eligible for the time scale policy.
In addition, eligible employees on Ex Pakistan leave and those on half average pay leave have also been included under the policy.
According to the office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance, approval from the relevant Time Scale Committee and the competent authority will be required before a time scale promotion is granted.
Officials further said that the purpose of the decision is to make the system for service benefits clearer and more effective.
It is expected to benefit many federal employees in Grades 1 to 16 who have been waiting for promotion or other service benefits.
KP increases house requisition, special conveyance allowances
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved an increased House Requisition Allowance for employees who are working in the Civil Secretariat, Chief Minister’s Secretariat, and Governor’s Secretariat.
The revised allowance will be given to employees from BPS-03 to BPS-22. The new rates took effect on July 1, 2026.
In addition to this, the Special Conveyance Allowance for government employees with disabilities.
Under the new decision, the monthly allowance has been increased from Rs6,000 to Rs10,000.
The increase of Rs4,000 was approved by the provincial cabinet and later announced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Department.
