The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a flood, monsoon rain, and storm alert for several parts of Sindh, warning of heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and strong winds from Wednesday until July 25.
According to the PMD, heavy rainfall is expected in Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Jamshoro, and Shaheed Benazirabad during the forecast period.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is likely in Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Khairpur, Larkana, Naushahro Feroze, and Thatta.
Authorities have advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall and remain cautious during thunderstorms. Citizens have been urged to stay away from electric poles, trees, and weak structures, and to avoid driving or walking through flooded roads and low-lying areas.
The PMD has also urged residents to keep track of official weather updates and follow safety advisories issued by relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh said it has been placed on high alert to respond to any emergency arising from the expected weather conditions. Dewatering pumps and emergency machinery have been kept on standby, while all district administrations have been directed to remain vigilant and ensure precautionary measures are in place to deal with potential flooding and storm-related incidents.

NDMA issues rain, flood alert
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for heavy rain, river flooding, flash floods and urban flooding in different parts of Pakistan until July 24.
The NDMA also warned of high-level flooding in the upper parts of the Chenab and Jhelum rivers. It also warned of a risk of sudden rises in water levels and flash floods.
It also said that if India releases water from its dams, water levels in the Ravi and Sutlej rivers could rise significantly.
And today, authorities issued a high alert across several districts of Punjab after India released a significant volume of water from the Salal Dam into the Chenab River. It triggered a sharp rise in water levels.
There is also a risk of urban flooding in several cities due to heavy rainfall. These include Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Lahore and Sialkot.
