Chinese automaker Geely is preparing to formally enter Pakistan with three brand-new SUV series.
As per the announcement, two fully electric models and one hybrid SUV will be launched in Pakistan through its authorised distributor, Bestway Automotive Private Limited (BAL).
According to media reports, Starray EM-i and EX5 have already been confirmed for the official launch.
The announcement was made during a media interaction in Lahore on 15 September, ahead of Geely’s planned market launch in Pakistan. BAL will initially import the vehicles as Completely Built Units (CBUs), with bookings expected to open before the end of 2026.
The company has not yet officially announced the names, specifications or prices of all three SUVs.
However, earlier reports identified the planned lineup as the Geely EX5 electric SUV, the EX2 electric model and the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid SUV.
Bestway also plans to move towards local assembly after the initial CBU phase. The company has acquired an existing manufacturing facility for its future assembly operations.
Muhammad Irfan Anwar Sheikh, Group Managing Director of Bestway Group’s non-banking businesses in Pakistan, described the partnership as a long-term commitment to the Pakistani market.
He said Bestway’s existing experience across sectors including cement, banking, insurance and renewable technology would be combined with Geely’s automotive technology and global capabilities.
Bestway also said it had taken responsibility for pending Proton customer refunds and cleared outstanding government taxes linked to the acquired facility.
