Kingsmen coach Gillespie hails Zalmi after defeat

Jason Gillespie, head coach of Hyderabad Kingsmen said that his team struggled after they lost wickets in clusters. Hyderabad Kingsmen fell short in the final of Pakistan Super League 11th season against Peshawar Zalmi.

The match was played on Sunday.

Gillespie spoke at the post-match conference and said that the Kingsmen had started well but was not able to maintain momentum.

He said “We began the final in a good way, but losing wickets one after another made things difficult.”

Marnis Labuchagne, the captain of Hyderabad Kingsmen was acknowledged by him. The coach described him as an emotional player. Marnis Labushagne reacted to a key dismissal during the match.

Gillespie further said “He spoke to the umpire after Perera’s dismissal, but the game is over now.”

The head coach further added that the team played very good cricket in the early matches of the season however the team was not able to get good results.

He also acknowledged the important role of Labushagne for leading the team throughout the competition in such a positive manner.

The head coach also said that the fact that Kingsmen had taken early wickets of the Peshawar Zalmi they had hope to win.

He said “We felt we had a chance when they lost four wickets early.”

The head coach also praised the match-winning efforts by Zalmi. He highlighted the role of Abdul Samad and Aaron Hardie whpo guided their team to victory under immense pressure.

At the end of the post-match conference Gillespie said “We learned a lot from this tournament and will look to come back stronger next season.”
