Glen Powell is one of the most well-known young leading men in Hollywood, forging a career that spans action, comedy, romance and drama.
Powell was born on October 21, 1988 in Austin, Texas and started acting when he was a teenager, appearing in the 2003 film Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over.
He went on to star in films such as The Expendables 3 and Everybody Wants Some!!, as well as Hidden Figures in which he starred as the astronaut John Glenn.
The breakthrough came in 2022 with Top Gun: Maverick, which stars Tom Cruise. He played Lieutenant Jake “Hangman” Seresin, which was Powell’s first major film role.
His appeal continued with the romantic comedy Anyone but You and the highly acclaimed movie Hit Man, and the disaster film Twisters in 2024.
He also got to play the lead character, Ben Richards in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man and is featured in the comedy show Chad Powers, which he co-created and produced.
The actor has a number of upcoming projects.
His next film will be The Great Beyond, a J.J. Abrams-directed sci-fi fantasy starring Powell, alongside Jenna Ortega and Samuel L. Jackson. The movie will be released in 2027.
Powell will also be appearing in The Comeback King, a Judd Apatow-directed comedy. He is the writer of the film.
It will be released in theatres on February 5, 2027.
In addition to these projects, Powell is currently involved in a handful of films such as The Natural Order (sci-fi thriller) and a Ron Howard-directed project about firefighters, which has yet to be titled.
He will also be returning as Hangman for Top Gun 3.
