ICC ODI rankings released: Abrar Ahmed among biggest movers

ICC ODI rankings released Abrar Ahmed among biggest movers

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled its latest ODI rankings, with Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed emerging as one of the biggest movers after a remarkable rise in the bowlers’ standings.

Abrar has climbed seven places to secure fourth position in the ODI bowlers’ rankings, reflecting his impressive recent performances. Meanwhile, Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi has also made significant progress, moving up four spots to 13th place.

The latest rankings underline the growing impact of Pakistan’s bowling attack on the international stage as both bowlers continue their upward trajectory in the 50-over format.

In the ODI batters’ rankings, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has retained his sixth position, while Salman Ali Agha has slipped five places to 14th.

New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell remains at the top of the ODI batters’ rankings, while Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan continues to hold the No. 1 spot in the ODI bowlers’ rankings.

It is worth mentioning here that the International Cricket Council (ICC) had approved several major changes to the laws of cricket during its Board meeting in India.

The meeting resulted in a number of important decisions concerning the playing conditions, women’s cricket, and the status of Cricket Canada.

Under the new regulations, the pink ball may now be used in Test matches with the mutual consent of both participating teams.

The Board also approved allowing umpires to access Hawkeye data when reviewing suspected illegal bowling actions.

In addition, the ICC decided to permanently adopt the League-Wide Trial regulations following their successful implementation.

The meeting further approved rescheduling the Women’s Champions Trophy 2027, which will now be held from February 14 to 28 instead of its previously planned June–July window.
