Get interest-free loan under Punjab govt’s financing programme

You can now get an interest free loan under the new initiative of the Punjab government, which is a Rs300 billion financing programme.

The Minister of Industries and Commerce of Punjab, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, has announced a Rs300 billion financing programme aimed at promoting industrial and commercial activities across the province, with interest-free loans of up to Rs100 million available under the scheme.

According to media reports, the minister made the announcement during a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC), held at PESSIC House on Davis Road.

The meeting reviewed measures to accelerate industrial development and approved several decisions concerning the province’s small industrial estates and business financing initiatives.

Hussain said interest-free financing was being provided under the Punjab government’s Chief Minister’s Asaan Karobar Finance Scheme.

Under the announced financing structure, loans of up to Rs100 million would be offered without interest. Loans ranging from Rs100 million to Rs1 billion would carry an interest rate of 3%, while financing between Rs1 billion and Rs5 billion would be subject to a 5% markup.

The programme is intended to support business activity and encourage investment in Punjab. However, further details about eligibility criteria, application procedures and the availability of funds were not provided in the information released about the meeting.

The minister also directed officials to speed up infrastructure improvement work in Punjab’s 24 small industrial estates.

The meeting was informed that a new small industrial estate had been established in Mandi Bahauddin. The process of acquiring plots there would be conducted entirely online, while a 20% quota had been reserved for overseas Pakistanis.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to facilitate investors and strengthen industrial activity across the province.
