iOS 27 to bring easier Home Screen editing with new options

Apple is preparing to make small but useful changes to how users interact with the iPhone Home Screen, with a focus on easier fixes when things go wrong.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iOS 27 will introduce “Undo” and “Redo” options within the Home Screen customisation menu. At present, users who long-press the Home Screen are shown options such as Add Widget, Customize, Edit Wallpaper and Edit Pages. The new controls are expected to sit in the same menu and allow users to quickly reverse or reapply changes made to their layout.

The idea is simple: if a user moves apps around, removes widgets or adjusts pages and later regrets it, they will not have to manually rebuild everything. Instead, a single tap could restore the previous setup.

Gurman said Apple is aiming to make Home Screen editing feel less risky and more flexible, especially for users who like experimenting with layouts but often end up undoing their own changes the hard way.

Alongside this, iOS 27 is shaping up to be a broader refinement update. Early reports suggest Apple is focusing heavily on performance improvements, stability and bug fixes, drawing comparisons to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, which was known for polishing rather than introducing major new features.

A more noticeable change is also expected in Siri. Gurman reported that Apple is working on a redesigned Siri experience that will appear inside the Dynamic Island. When activated, users may see a “Search or Ask” prompt along with a glowing cursor effect. The interface is also said to include a subtle light animation around the edges of the Dynamic Island when Siri is in use.

Apple is reportedly developing a dedicated Siri app as well. This would allow users to hold more natural back and forth conversations, while also reviewing past interactions. The app is expected to be preinstalled on iOS 27.

However, not all devices may get the full experience. Some of the new Siri features are likely to depend on Apple Intelligence, meaning they could be limited to newer models such as the iPhone 15 Pro and later.

Apple is expected to preview iOS 27 at its Worldwide Developers Conference, scheduled from June 8 to June 12, 2026. The update will then move into beta testing in June before a wider release in September. Alongside iOS 27, Apple is also expected to unveil updates for iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS.
