Old and used mobile phones imported into Pakistan are expected to become more expensive because the FBR has updated customs values for several brands. These include Apple, Samsung, Google, and OnePlus. This will also increase the PTA tax on these phones.
According to the reports, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has increased the customs valuation of imported mobile phones by up to 175 per cent.
An application can be filed within 30 days to review the new customs valuation, the reports add.
According to the details, the Directorate General of Customs Valuation has issued a new ruling under which tax on future imported mobile phones will be collected according to the new fixed value.
Officials say that due to the increase in valuation, the tax amount on imported mobile phones has also increased.
As a result of this, 62 models of different brands have become more expensive. This new law will be applicable to all used mobile phones, and the condition of the phone will not matter.
Moreover, it has been made mandatory for imported mobile phones to be activated at least six months ago.
According to the details, importers will have to provide complete details of mobile activation. The previous valuation order has been cancelled, and the new rolling number 2070 has been applied.
New prices have been set based on market and import data. Because of this, the cost of importing old mobile phones is expected to increase significantly.

The customs value of the used iPhone 15 Pro Max has been set at $505, which was earlier $460.

Similarly, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has increased from $360 to $413, the iPhone 14 Pro from $290 to $350. The value of the iPhone 14 has increased from $210 to $275.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max has increased from $295 to $374, the iPhone 13 Pro from $225 to $293, and the value of the iPhone 13 has increased from $170 to $225.
And the iPhone 12 Pro Max has increased from $215 to $274, the iPhone 12 Pro from $155 to $222, and the value of the iPhone 12 has increased from $120 to $156.
The iPhone 11 Pro Max has increased from $145 to $211, the iPhone 11 Pro has increased from $125 to $160, and the value of the iPhone 11 has increased from $95 to $133.
Among other models, the value of the iPhone XS Max has been maintained at $95. The iPhone XS has increased from $66 to $73.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 has increased from $140 to $250, the S22 Ultra has increased from $160 to $260, and the S22 Plus has increased from $75 to $180.
