The Islamic Republic of Iran has announced to file a complaint over travel restrictions during their stay in the US for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Iranian Football Federation has planned to formally approach FIFA regarding travel restrictions imposed by the US.
The federation has claimed that the travel restrictions are affecting the national team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In an official statement, the federation said the restrictions have complicated travel arrangements for members of the coaching staff and support personnel, creating what it described as unnecessary challenges in the lead-up to football’s biggest tournament.
The federation argued that the limitations could disrupt logistical planning and hinder the team’s ability to prepare effectively for the competition, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The federation stated that the Iranian team’s training camp in Mexico was unable to travel to Los Angeles on Sunday, disrupting the team’s schedule and administrative arrangements.
The federation emphasised that all teams participating in a global event such as the FIFA World Cup should be provided with equal facilities and freedom of movement. It said it would request FIFA’s immediate intervention to resolve the issue.
It is worth mentioning here that the 2026 FIFA World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Meanwhile, Qatar suffered a 6–0 defeat, while Canada secured its first-ever victory in FIFA World Cup history.
