Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Pakistan-US relations.
According to official statements, the two leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in bilateral ties and exchanged views on evolving regional and global developments.
During the meeting, Secretary Rubio acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic and mediatory efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond. The discussions also focused on enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, security, and counter-terrorism.
Both sides agreed to further advance the Pakistan-US partnership through high-level engagements and closer collaboration on issues related to regional peace, security, and economic prosperity.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Islamabad and Washington to expand cooperation and deepen diplomatic engagement amid changing regional dynamics.
It is worth mentioning here that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Washington on Friday.
The development comes as Islamabad is attempting to negotiate a peace pact to end the US war with Iran. Vice President JD Vance has said the two sides were “close” to reaching a deal but “not there yet”.
Dar reached Washington after a three-day visit to New York for meetings linked to the United Nations. Upon his arrival, he was received by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, along with senior officials of the Pakistani embassy.
