US President Donald Trump, in a post on Truth Social, called on Iran to permanently agree that it will never obtain a nuclear weapon.
He also demanded that the Strait of Hormuz be immediately opened for unrestricted shipping in both directions, with no tolls or restrictions.
He stated that any water mines in the area would be cleared, noting that US naval forces had already removed several mines through controlled detonations.
Trump added that Iran should complete the removal or detonation of any remaining mines in coordination with international partners. He also said that ships previously affected by what he described as a naval blockade could now resume normal movement and “head home.”
In his message, Trump also referred to enriched nuclear material described as “nuclear dust” stating it was buried deep underground and would be recovered and destroyed by the United States in coordination with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
He further claimed that no payments would be made for these actions until further notice, while noting that other, less significant matters had also been agreed upon. Trump concluded by saying he was heading to the Situation Room for a final decision and thanked the public for their attention.
