Second phase of peace talks likely next week in Islamabad: sources

International media reports state that the second phase of the peace talks between the United States (US) and Iran will be held at the end of next week in Islamabad, and security agencies have been directed to make the required arrangements on Wednesday.

Although no official confirmation has been made by the Pakistani officials yet, sources claim that the talks will be held by the end of next week.

Security agencies have also been directed to complete the arrangements by the end of next week, according to the reports.

The US delegation is expected to be represented by the US Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

On the other hand, the Iranian delegation is expected to be represented by the Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

These officials represented the delegations in phase one of the Islamabad Talks 2026 as well.

‘US-Iran peace talks expected in Islamabad in 2 days’

According to an interview with the American newspaper, The New York Post, US President Donald Trump said that the next round of Iran-US talks is also likely to be held in Pakistan.

“You should stay there, really, because something could be happening over the next two days, and we’re more inclined to go there,” Trump said to the journalist, reports say.

He also praised the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, saying that he is doing excellent work.

“He’s fantastic, and therefore it’s more likely that we go back there,” Trump further added.

He said that the next round of US-Iran talks could be held in 2 days, according to the reports.

Iran wants second phase of talks in Pakistan

Iran has shown full trust in Pakistan’s management and security arrangements during the Islamabad peace talks.

Reports suggest Iran wants the second round of the peace talks to be held in Pakistan as well.

According to the sources, Iran is completely satisfied with the management and the security arrangements of the first round of US-Iran peace talks.
