A petrol pump in the I-9 sector of the federal capital of the country, Islamabad, has been sealed on Friday after a citizen claimed that the workers there filled 61 litres of petrol in a car that had a capacity of only 50 litres.
The citizen filed a complaint with the Assistant Commissioner Industrial Area, according to the reports.
A magistrate then visited the petrol pump after receiving the complaint and looked into the matter. During the inspection, officials found the complaint to be correct and took action against the pump.
The administration sealed the petrol pump and arrested its manager as well.
Additionally, a fine was imposed because of the alleged violation. Officials said that if anyone was found cheating customers or changing fuel measurement systems, they would face strict legal action.
The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has also directed the concerned departments to act quickly on public complaints.
Additionally, they have been directed to make sure businesses that provide essential services follow government rules.
In the past, several petrol pumps in Islamabad have also faced action for using faulty measuring equipment, operating without following regulations, and other violations.
Diner in F-6 Markaz sealed over tax fraud
Previously, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on June 18 sealed a fast food diner in Islamabad, in the F-6 Markaz.
The regional tax office of Islamabad sealed the restaurant over alleged tax fraud.
The notice on the shutter of the restaurant says that the restaurant has been sealed due to the issuance of unverifiable invoices under section 33(24) of the Sales Tax Act, 1990.
Before that, a coffee outlet was recently sealed on the same charges in Lahore.
The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) sealed the coffee outlet for violating the electronic invoicing rules; there was also a mismatch in declared sales.
The said coffee brand was also suspected of showing revenue less than its actual profit via the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS).
