In a recent escalation of hostilities, Israel announced that it was initiating new strikes throughout Tehran and targeting what it referred to as Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut amid the US Israel war on Iran.
The Israeli military announced that it had targeted structures in Iran associated with the Basij, the volunteer police division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as well as facilities linked to internal security forces.
Reports from Kurdish media indicated that police stations and IRGC headquarters located in the Kurdish regions of north-western Iran were also destroyed by airstrikes.
Iran’s security apparatus has played a crucial role in suppressing protest movements historically, and the United States has encouraged Iranians to seek the overthrow of the current government.
US plans to collaborate with Kurdish separatists
Furthermore, Washington has allegedly been considering the option of collaborating with Kurdish separatist factions to invade certain areas of Iran and create a safe zone for the predominantly Kurdish populations in the north-west.
The regional aspect of the conflict has continued to escalate, with Iran launching attacks on Gulf states and Hezbollah targeting Israel and Cyprus.
Turkey reported that NATO air defenses intercepted a ballistic missile that was on a trajectory towards its airspace.
Additionally, Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday night that it had intercepted three cruise missiles, while the United States claimed to have sunk an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean.
Authorities in Sri Lanka reported that at least 80 individuals had lost their lives, with 23 others rescued, amidst estimates that there were around 180 people aboard.
Iran launches drone strike on Amazon data center in Bahrain
In a separate incident, a drone attack was carried out by Iran on an Amazon data center located in Bahrain, as reported by a state-affiliated Iranian news agency.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that a US submarine had sunk an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean.
Within Iran, it has been reported that over 1,000 individuals have lost their lives since the commencement of strikes amid the US Israel war on Iran this past weekend, according to a human rights organisation based in the United States.
