Secretary Information and IT of the Azad Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Rashid Hanif, stated that the banned JAAC is misleading people by circulating old and fake videos on social media. He advised the public to rely only on information issued by official and verified sources.
He stated that the peaceful conduct of elections in the Mirpur division has foiled the plans of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC). He stated that the successful completion of the electoral process reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and democratic order in the region.
Responding to a question, he stated that individuals present in Rawalakot are not peaceful protesters but armed militants, and that women and children are being forcibly used as human shields. He made these remarks while addressing a press conference alongside Deputy Inspector General of Police Irfan Masood Kashfi.
Secretary Information Rashid Hanif urged the public not to believe misinformation spread by the Indian media and social media platforms.
He said that the writ of the state would be maintained at all costs and that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands. He added that, following the election results, attempts were made to disrupt the democratic process by creating unrest, but the government remains committed to protecting the people’s right to vote.
While addressing Deputy Inspector General of Police Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Irfan Masood Kashfi said that armed individuals possess M4 rifles, SMGs, Kalashnikovs, and other modern weapons. According to verified reports, these armed elements are also using snipers.
He said that arrested suspects have revealed that they were offered modern weapons and cash rewards in exchange for carrying out attacks. He stated that these individuals are no longer peaceful protesters but armed militants and will be dealt with under the law in the same manner as terrorists.
