The West Indies have set Pakistan a target of 211 runs to win the first Test match in Tarouba. On the fourth day of the match, the West Indies were bowled out for 181 runs in their second innings, setting Pakistan a challenging 211-run target. The hosts had secured a 29-run first-innings lead before the decisive phase of the contest.
For the West Indies, Shamar Joseph scored 38 runs, Tagenarine Chanderpaul made 35, Justin Greaves contributed 20, and Kemar Roach added 18 runs.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas delivered a brilliant bowling performance, taking five wickets for 22 runs, while Mohammad Ali and Khurram Shahzad claimed two wickets each.
Earlier, the West Indies had scored 126 runs for the loss of seven wickets by the end of the third day, securing a 155-run lead over Pakistan and putting the match into a decisive phase.
The third day belonged to the bowlers, with a total of 14 wickets falling. The West Indian bowlers first dismissed the remaining seven Pakistani batsmen, after which Pakistan’s bowlers made a strong comeback by taking seven wickets of the visiting side.
It is worth mentioning that the West Indies scored 311 runs in their first innings, while Pakistan managed 282 runs in response.
Pakistan have made a difficult start in their chase of a 211-run target in the opening Test of the series against the West Indies, losing three wickets early. At the lunch break on the fourth day at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Pakistan were 46 for 4 in their second innings.
Earlier, Saim Ayub was dismissed for 3, Imam-ul-Haq also scored 3, while Salman Ali Agha was out for a duck, leaving Pakistan under pressure in the run chase.
