Today, the Karachi Traffic Police have issued a traffic plan for Saturday and Sunday. It has announced road closures and alternate routes due to construction work on the Malir Expressway project.
Karachi Saturday, Sunday traffic plan
According to the traffic police, traffic on the Malir River Bridge will remain suspended for two days because of construction work.
The bridge will be completely closed in both directions from 7 AM to 7 PM on July 18 and 19.
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during this period. The citizens have also been advised to use alternate routes to prevent traffic congestion.
Under the alternate traffic plan, vehicles coming from Quaidabad can take a U-turn on Shahrah-e-Bhutto to reach Malir.
Meanwhile, traffic coming from the Malook Hotel side can pass underneath the Malir River Bridge towards Steel Mills.
The traffic police urged commuters to follow the diversion plan and use the designated alternate routes to help maintain a smooth flow of traffic during the construction work.

Karachi University Road’s mixed traffic lanes status
Earlier today, the Sindh government announced that the mixed traffic lanes on Karachi’s University Road will soon reopen.
This has given huge relief to commuters who have been affected by the ongoing Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) construction.
Sharjeel Memon said the Red Line BRT is an important public transport project for Karachi and that the government wants to finish it within the planned timeline.
He instructed all departments to complete their remaining work on schedule.
The decision was made during a meeting led by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, where officials reviewed the progress of the Red Line BRT project.
Officials told the meeting that construction is moving ahead quickly and that all departments are working together to complete the project on time.
The minister added that the Sindh government is committed to providing Karachi with a modern, efficient and environmentally friendly public transport system. And also reducing inconvenience for the public during construction.
