Edhi Foundation introduces biometric identification system

Meanwhile, Edhi Foundation has introduced a biometric identification system in Lahore to help identify unclaimed bodies.

Hundreds of unidentified bodies have been buried in graveyards near Miani Sahib and Sagian in Lahore. Although many of these individuals have not been identified to date, the Edhi Foundation has now begun using biometric methods in Lahore, following Karachi, to help establish identities and locate their families.

In charge of the Edhi Foundation Lahore explained that previously, when police recovered an unidentified body, fingerprints from both hands were taken on paper and sent to the forensic department. However, it was nearly impossible to trace the families through this method.
