Water supply has been suspended in parts of Karachi after a leak developed in a 24-inch diameter pipeline, affecting several areas of the city.
According to the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), water supply has been temporarily suspended in Union Councils 9, 10, 11, and 12 of Lyari following the leak in a major water line.
Officials said the remaining areas of Lyari Town continue to receive water as normal. Engineering and technical teams have begun emergency repair work, which is expected to take 36 to 48 hours. Water supply to the affected areas will be restored in phases once repairs are completed.
Meanwhile, KWSC has launched a large-scale crackdown against consumers who have failed to pay their water bills.

As part of the campaign, the corporation has disconnected water connections and sealed the premises of several commercial and industrial defaulters. During an operation in Sector 28 of Landhi Town, authorities disconnected the water supply of multiple businesses owing more than Rs40 million in unpaid dues.
Separately, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated a project to supply 5 million gallons of water per day (MGD) to Gulshan-e-Hadeed and nearby areas in District Malir.
Speaking at the inauguration, the mayor said the project permanently resolves a long-standing water shortage after the Pakistan Steel Mills administration had previously stopped supplying water to the area.
He added that a 4-kilometre dedicated pipeline, built at a cost of Rs500 million, will benefit around 500,000 residents. The project was completed by KWSC in a record two months.
The mayor also pledged to bring more development projects to Malir and Gulshan-e-Hadeed, saying the areas had been neglected in the past.
