Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has vowed to remove all encroachments from Islamabad, announcing a major operation to restore the beauty of the federal capital following the demolition of Khanna Police Station.

Naqvi said the government would take strict action against illegal occupations of greenbelts and other public spaces to restore Islamabad’s original beauty and improve its overall appearance.

He said the anti-encroachment drive would cover the city’s greenbelts, while street vendors operating pushcarts and roadside stalls would be provided alternative spaces in designated markets so they could continue earning their livelihoods.

The interior minister also announced plans to renovate and upgrade all police stations across Islamabad to improve their infrastructure and facilities.

Highlighting improvements in emergency response services, Naqvi said five new rescue centres were being established in the capital to strengthen emergency operations.

He further revealed that fire brigade vehicles equipped with 88-metre ladders had arrived in Islamabad. The new fire and rescue system is expected to become fully operational within four to five months.

The upgraded system is aimed at improving the city’s capacity to deal with major fire incidents and emergencies, particularly in high-rise buildings.

Naqvi said the initiatives were part of a broader plan to improve Islamabad’s infrastructure, public facilities and urban management while restoring the capital’s beauty.
