The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is considering withdrawing police and Frontier Corps (FC) security personnel deployed with prominent political and religious figures and at their residences in view of the province’s overall security situation.
Official sources said reports have been sought from deputy commissioners in Peshawar and other districts to review security arrangements for influential personalities. District Intelligence Committee meetings have also been directed to assess the existing deployments and determine future security requirements.
According to sources, the authorities are reviewing the deployment of police and FC personnel to identify unnecessary security arrangements. Personnel withdrawn from the security details of influential individuals and their residences may be reassigned to different police stations to strengthen security where it is needed most.
Sources revealed that an entire FC platoon is currently deployed at the residence of an influential religious figure in the province. In addition, more than 35 police personnel are reportedly assigned to protect the individual, close relatives and brothers.
Authorities are examining these deployments to ensure that available security personnel are utilised according to actual requirements rather than remaining assigned to individuals who may not require such extensive protection.
Officials are expected to take important decisions after receiving reports from deputy commissioners and other relevant authorities.
The upcoming District Intelligence Committee meetings will review the security needs of political and religious figures and determine which deployments should continue and which personnel can be reassigned.
The proposed move aims to redistribute limited security resources and make more personnel available for public safety and law enforcement duties across the province.
