KP Governor steps up efforts for women’s higher education in DI Khan

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is intensifying efforts to set up a campus of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) in Dera Ismail Khan, aiming to broaden women’s education opportunities.

This topic was addressed in a meeting at the Governor House with senior university officials, including Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farhat Amin.

During the meeting, Governor Kundi highlighted that creating a women’s university campus in Dera Ismail Khan has been a long-standing request from the residents of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and nearby districts in Punjab.

He stressed that the new campus should focus on academic programs and departments that meet current global standards, helping women gain modern skills and opportunities in education.

The university administration updated the Governor on the initial project planning and promised that a preliminary draft of the campus proposal would be ready and shared soon.

This initiative is anticipated to improve access to women’s education in the area and support the educational and socio-economic growth of southern KP.
