Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has stressed that dialogue is essential in politics but said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) must first resolve its internal differences and achieve unity before negotiations can take place.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, the governor said PTI had effectively split into four or five different factions, raising questions about which group should be approached for dialogue.
Commenting on the construction of an underpass, Kundi acknowledged the inconvenience being faced by citizens and said the public would have to endure some difficulties until the project was completed. He added that he had directed the contractor concerned to accelerate construction work to minimise public inconvenience.
Regarding the ongoing anti-encroachment operation, the governor said action was being taken without discrimination. He maintained that even if encroachments were found on his own farmhouse, they should be demolished. He added that the same action would be taken against any encroachments at the Mufti Mahmood Centre, stressing that the operation was not intended to target anyone personally.
KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has criticised Maulana Fazlur Rehman, alleging that poor children are sent to Afghanistan for jihad while the Maulana’s own sons and brothers travel to Turkey, Europe and the United States.
Kundi also welcomed the federal government’s Rs160 billion relief package and said he would raise Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s issues during his upcoming meeting with the prime minister. He said both the prime minister and the field marshal had assured the province of their full cooperation.
The governor further emphasised that anyone found involved in corruption should face punishment.
Commenting on Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s situation, Kundi said the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief was facing difficulties because of his brother and son. Addressing the Maulana’s son, he said he had never paid extortion money (bhata) to anyone.
