Sunny Deol-starrer movie Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, has received a new release date. The film is now set to hit cinemas over the Independence Day weekend on August 13 this year.
In a press statement, Aamir Khan said, “This was one of Dharamji’s (late Dharmendra) favourite scripts, and I am very happy that he was able to see the film.”
The movie also stars Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta and Karan Deol. The music has been composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar.
Lahore 1947 marks a much-awaited reunion between Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi, who previously worked together on hit films such as Ghayal (1990), Damini (1993) and Ghatak (1996). The film also reunites Sunny and Preity Zinta, who earlier appeared together in Farz (2001) and The Hero: Love Story of a Spy.
The film was earlier scheduled for release in January 2025.
Now what is left to be seen is will this be another Indian propaganda movie against Pakistan or will it depict the true events that led to the 1947 partition.
