Lahore’s traffic police are set to change their uniform again, less than a year after the previous design was introduced.
According to police sources, traffic wardens will return to the blush-grey uniform, replacing the current white shirt and blue trousers.
The previous uniform was introduced during the tenure of former Chief Traffic Officer Athar Waheed. Sources said traffic wardens were given Rs5,000 each for the uniform at the time.
A meeting to discuss the latest change was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Logistics. The meeting was attended by the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Logistics and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Traffic Headquarters.
Under the plan, the Punjab police chief will provide one uniform to personnel in each unit.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Highway Patrol will continue using its existing uniform design.
The repeated changes have raised questions about the cost and practicality of frequently replacing uniforms for traffic personnel.

Milk, yogurt see rise in price in Lahore
The price of milk and yoghurt has been consecutively increasing in the capital of Punjab, Lahore.
Lahore consumers are paying more for milk and yoghurt as the district administration struggles to enforce official prices in the open market.
Milk is officially priced at Rs170 per litre, but retailers in several parts of the city are reportedly selling it for as much as Rs240 per litre. This means consumers are paying up to Rs70 more per litre than the notified rate.
Yoghurt is also being sold at prices of up to Rs250 per kilogram, according to consumers.
The higher prices have prompted anger among residents, who have called on the Lahore district administration to take action against sellers charging above the official rates.
