Six Iranian govt officials have been martyred in US-Israel strikes, Iran has confirmed.
The country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was among the top leaders martyred as tensions escalated in the Middle East.
Here is the list of Iranian govt officials martyred in the strikes:
- Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
- Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the IRGC
- Ali Shamkhani, a close adviser to the supreme leader
- Gholamreza Rezaian, the national intelligence chief of the police
- Abdolrahim Mousavim, the chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces
- Aziz Nasirzadeh, the defence minister
However, according to Israel, 40 senior officials have been martyred, but Iran has not confirmed this.
In recent reports, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency has said that seven Iranian military commanders have been killed in air raids.
The list of names includes Basij Major General Shahid Mohammad Shirazi, Head of the Office of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
The report also claims that Raider General Shahid Saleh Asadi, Deputy for Intelligence of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, was martyred in the strikes.
A day earlier, the Iranian state media reported that Khamenei “was carrying out his assigned duties and was present at his workplace (his office)”.
“This cowardly attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning”, state media further stated.
In addition to this, a 40-day-long public mourning was announced in Iran according to the state media reports, after the Supreme Leader’s martyrdom.
