The Punjab government has announced plans to provide interest-free and affordable housing loans to more than 300,000 families this year under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme.

Significant progress has been reported under the Punjab Chief Minister’s flagship housing initiative, with more than 215,000 families having already received approval for low-cost loans.

The development was shared during a high-level review meeting chaired by Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin. Officials said the programme has crossed the milestone of providing Rs273 billion in loans to eligible citizens.

According to the latest figures presented at the meeting, construction of around 122,000 houses has been completed under the programme, while another 57,500 houses are expected to be completed during the current year.

The programme has also received a strong response through its online portal, with the number of applicants surpassing 1.6 million.

The Punjab government aims to provide interest-free loans on easy instalments to more than 300,000 families this year under the scheme.

The meeting also decided that applicants would be contacted immediately once their loan approval process is completed. The move is aimed at making the disbursement process faster and more transparent for eligible applicants.
