Maryam Nawaz praises PM Shehbaz, Field Marshal Asim Munir for diplomatic efforts

The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has praised Pakistan’s leadership for what she described as a key diplomatic role in easing recent global tensions.

In a message marking the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, she credited Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar, and the COAS and CDF, Field Marshal, Syed Asim Munir, for their efforts.

Maryam Nawaz said Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement had helped reduce the risk of a wider conflict.

She added that the approach had brought a sense of stability at a time of growing global uncertainty.

She said dialogue remains the most effective way to resolve disputes, and that diplomacy can support trade, tourism, and cooperation between countries.

Talking about the regional issues, she said the Kashmir dispute could also be addressed through continued diplomatic efforts.

The chief minister added that challenges such as climate change, poverty, and conflict require joint international action.

She said Pakistan’s recent diplomatic efforts had strengthened its standing as a responsible member of the global community.

Maryam Nawaz also praised security forces for an operation in Khyber District, where officials said 22 militants were killed.

She praised the coordination between law enforcement agencies and reiterated the government’s commitment to tackling militancy.

She also expressed condolences over the death of a ten-year-old child during a separate incident of firing, offering sympathy to the family.

Field Marshal meets Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi

Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Foreign Minister (FM) of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, held an important meeting with the Iranian FM, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, upon his arrival in Pakistan today.

Pakistan makes significant diplomatic progress in peace efforts, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Iraqi arrives in Islamabad, meets with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

They discussed in detail bilateral relations, the security situation in the region and the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi, Iranian Ambassador and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Iran informed Pakistan of its recent observations and position, while Pakistan expressed its commitment to continue its diplomatic efforts to establish peace in the region.

The leaders of both countries also agreed that dialogue and diplomacy are the only solutions in the current situation.

The second round of Islamabad Talks is expected to take place very soon, as per the media reports.

The meeting also discussed the possibilities of further promoting cooperation, strengthening border security and expanding economic ties.
