Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has reportedly paid Rs27.194 million for the use of the provincial government aircraft for her private trip to London.
A National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) cash deposit slip circulating on social media shows a payment of Rs27,194,004.
The slip carries the account title ZGBMRA and shows the amount deposited in cash.
The development comes amid controversy over Maryam Nawaz’s recent use of the Punjab government’s official
aircraft for a private visit to London.
Earlier reports said the government had initially calculated the aircraft expenses at Rs29,365,976. The amount was later revised to Rs28,037,844 and then reduced to Rs27,194,004.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari had earlier said Maryam Nawaz would bear the aircraft expenses herself.
The Punjab government had maintained from the beginning that the cost of the journey would not be borne by taxpayers. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari had said that the chief minister would pay the aircraft expenses from her own pocket. Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb later repeated that position.
