A large number of women gathered at a press conference held at the Kashmir Press Club in Mirpur, where they voiced support for peace and stability in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and announced a boycott of the banned Awami Action Committee.
The press conference was led by Kishwar Naheed of the Muslim Conference, Aam Aadmi Party Chairperson Nasreen Farooq, social media activist Tamanna Hanan Lone, Naila Shakoor and other women leaders.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers said Azad Kashmir is a peaceful region and alleged that the banned Awami Action Committee is promoting unrest, instability and tension, which they said has no place in society. They urged the public to remain vigilant against elements seeking to create division and uncertainty in the region.
The women leaders emphasised that the relationship between Pakistan and Azad Kashmir is rooted in history, ideology and the sentiments of the people and cannot be weakened. They stated that Pakistan has consistently contributed to the development of Azad Kashmir and the provision of essential services and infrastructure.
The speakers said the people of Azad Kashmir stand for peace, progress and stability and would not accept any actions that could lead to disorder or conflict. They appealed to the public, particularly women, to act responsibly, avoid rumours and inflammatory narratives, and play a positive role in promoting harmony and social cohesion.
A large number of women and children attended the event. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to making Azad Kashmir a symbol of peace, brotherhood and development, while rejecting any attempts to spread unrest or undermine stability in the region.
