Momina Iqbal opens up on psychological trauma after harassment, abuse

Pakistani actress and model Momina Iqbal has publicly spoken about the emotional and psychological trauma she went through due to harassment, abuse, and threats.

She revealed that the experience left her feeling as though she had “maybe died” internally. She described this as one of the difficult periods of her life and said it had a devastating impact not only on her but also on her entire family.

According to the actress, she has been facing online harassment, cyberbullying, intimidation, and death threats for an extended period, creating severe mental stress and emotional exhaustion, affecting her daily life and sense of security.

Momina stated that she had repeatedly approached the relevant authorities for help, including the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). However, she claimed that no meaningful action was taken despite her complaints and was discouraged from pursuing the matter further.

In her public statements, she alleged that a Punjab Assembly member associated with the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) had been involved in issuing threats to her, but initially refrained from publicly naming the individual.

She appealed directly to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, requesting an impartial investigation and legal action against anyone found guilty of harassment. She expressed hope that the matter would be handled fairly regardless of political affiliations.

Momina also warned that if her complaints continued to be ignored, she would hold a press conference and publicly present all the evidence she claimed to possess regarding the harassment, threats and efforts to suppress her case.

Momina Iqbal entered Pakistan’s entertainment industry in 2018 and gained recognition through her acting and modelling work. She completed her education in Karachi before earning a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lahore.
