A major administrative development has emerged in the high-profile harassment case involving actress Mominah Iqbal and PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar.
Muhammad Ali Wasim, director of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore, has been transferred, according to a notification issued by the Establishment Division.
The notification states that Wasim, a Grade-19 officer of the Police Service, has been placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Interior.
A case against Saqib Chadhar was registered during Wasim’s tenure as NCCIA Lahore director.
Following the transfer, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) will conduct the investigation into the case afresh, according to the Establishment Division.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar and his wife, Sameera, have been declared innocent by an investigation team in a harassment and death threats case filed by actress Momina Iqbal.
The development came during proceedings at a Lahore sessions court, where a National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) investigation officer submitted a report on the allegations against Chadhar and his wife.
According to the investigation report, the arrest of Saqib Chadhar and Sameera was not required at this stage.
