A National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) official told a sessions court on Tuesday that an investigation into allegations of harassment against PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar had been completed, and he was found guilty in the case involving actor Momina Iqbal
According to details, the investigation into Saqib Chadhar in a case involving the alleged harassment of actress Momina Iqbal has been completed, with investigators finding him guilty.
Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Siddiqui heard the accused’s interim bail application. During the hearing, Advocate Adnan Ehsan appeared on behalf of Momina Iqbal, while Advocate Rana Maroof represented Saqib Chadhar.
Investigating Officer Najam Bajwa informed the court that Saqib Chadhar’s wife, Sameera, had submitted her mobile phone to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) two days earlier. He said the investigation had been completed and that Saqib Chadhar had been found guilty. Sameera’s mobile phone has also been sent for forensic analysis.
Counsel for Momina Iqbal requested the court to reject the accused’s interim bail, arguing that his release could pose a threat to the actress’s safety.
After hearing the arguments, the court extended Saqib Chadhar’s interim bail until September 3 and directed both parties’ lawyers to present their final arguments at the next hearing.
The case gained public attention after actress Momina Iqbal’s social media appeal went viral in May, prompting a response from senior PML-N leadership, including Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
In her post, which tagged PML-N leaders, Iqbal alleged that she had been facing prolonged online harassment, cyberbullying, and threats. She said the alleged actions had caused significant mental distress and emotional trauma for both her and her family.
At the time, Iqbal did not publicly reveal the identity of the person she was accusing but claimed that a PML-N member of the provincial assembly had been harassing and threatening her for an extended period. She said she had repeatedly approached the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), but no effective action had been taken.
