Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has criticised the Chief Minister (CM) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sohail Afridi, over the ongoing situation in KP.
Marwat said that a no-confidence motion against Afridi would only be moved if he dug his heels into the CM’s seat.
He claimed that Afridi was making repeated requests to find a way out of the situation. Marwat also said that Imran Khan would not let him off the hook.
Referring to the September 27 plans, Marwat questioned Afridi’s preparations for October 4.
He said that if Afridi could not prepare for September 27 despite having 11 months, it was unclear how he could prepare for October 4 in just five days.
Shocking white paper exposes deliberate misgovernance
Earlier today, a shocking white paper presented by PML-N raised serious questions over the KP government’s performance.
It pointed to alleged governance failures and concerns over smuggling, narcotics and terrorism across the province.
As per the White Paper, shown by PML-N leaders Ikhtiar Wali and Samar Bilour, a shocking surge in violence has raised serious questions over CM Sohail Afridi’s security policy. According to it, police casualties and terrorist attacks continue to increase.
Police personnel killed in the first half of 2026 surged 93.7 per cent compared with H1 2025.
This nearly doubles the death toll. Police injuries also jumped 108.3 per cent, which is more than double over the same period.
‘Imran Khan unhappy with Sohail Afridi’s performance’
PTI founder Imran Khan expressed dissatisfaction with KP CM Sohail Afridi and asked him to step down, according to reports.
According to ARY News, sources said Khan sent the message through party leaders. The message was linked to Afridi’s performance as chief minister.
Sources said Khan had earlier sent a similar message through a lawyer. He had asked Afridi to leave the chief minister’s post.
During a recent meeting at Adiala Jail, Khan’s sister Nooreen Niazi reportedly briefed him about Afridi’s plans for a long march towards Islamabad on September 27.
She also reportedly told Khan that some PTI MPAs linked to former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur were against Afridi.
Sources claimed that around 35 PTI MPAs were unhappy with the current chief minister.
No-confidence move against Afridi
Sources said Khan then directed the party to bring a no-confidence motion against Afridi if he failed to take the planned march to Islamabad.
The move could further increase tensions within PTI over the KP chief minister’s position.
