Pakistan’s armed forces, including the Chief of Defence Forces and the Chief Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of the Naval Staff, and the Chief of the Air Staff, have paid tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, the recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider, on the occasion of his martyrdom anniversary.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Captain Karnal Sher Khan displayed exceptional courage, unwavering resolve, and outstanding professional skill during the Kargil War. He sacrificed his life while defending the country.
The military’s media wing said that despite extremely difficult conditions. He remained at the front lines throughout the conflict and fought the enemy with remarkable bravery before embracing martyrdom.
It added that his courage and sacrifice remain a shining chapter in the history of the Pakistan Army.
The ISPR said Captain Karnal Sher Khan’s sacrifice is a lasting symbol of patriotism, bravery, and devotion to duty.
It further added that he continues to inspire the entire nation, especially the younger generation, with his courage, selflessness, and loyalty.
The armed forces also reaffirmed their commitment to follow the legacy of Captain Karnal Sher Khan by continuing to make every sacrifice necessary for the defence and security of Pakistan. They said his memory will always hold a place of honour in the country’s history.
Military awards ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr,
Previously, President Asif Ali Zardari honoured members of Pakistan’s armed forces during a military awards ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The president presented military awards to officers and soldiers in recognition of their services to the country. Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ali Shaukat Shaheed was awarded the Sitara-e-Basalat.
Air Marshal Kashif Qamar received the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) for his outstanding professional performance.
The Sitara-e-Basalat was also awarded to Sepoy Sauban Majeed Baloch Shaheed in recognition of his sacrifice for the country.
