The Pakistan Army has repaired and restored five buses for the Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, helping improve transport for students in Uthal.

According to sources, the work was carried out by the Pakistan Coast Guard, which operates under the army.

The buses were repaired and upgraded before being handed back to the university.

University officials say the move addresses a long-standing demand for reliable student transport.

The upgraded buses are expected to benefit a large number of students, particularly female students who depend on university transport to travel to and from campus.

Repairs and safety improvements

The restoration work included structural repairs to the bus bodies, repainting, and improvements to interiors.

Seats were upgraded, and the electrical systems were repaired.

Safety features were also improved during the process, according to people familiar with the project.

The buses have now been returned to service for daily student transport.

Officials say the project was carried out as part of a social welfare initiative aimed at supporting educational institutions.

University sends formal letter of thanks

Following the completion of the work, the university administration sent a formal letter of appreciation to the Pakistan Coast Guard.

The letter, issued by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Abdul Malik Tareen and addressed to Jawad Riaz, Director General (DG) of the Pakistan Coast Guards, thanks the organisation for repairing and maintaining the buses.

The document is printed on the official letterhead of Lasbela University and includes the vice-chancellor’s signature at the bottom.

The letter states:

“On behalf of Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, I extend my profound gratitude to you and your dedicated team for graciously undertaking and successfully completing the repair and maintenance of the University buses.”

The VC further said, “This generous cooperation reflects your commitment to supporting educational institutions and strengthening inter-organisational collaboration.”

“Your support stands as a fine example of how coordinated efforts among state organisations contribute to the promotion of education and the welfare of students”, said the VC in his letter.

By thanking the Pakistan Army for the arrangements made, Abdul Malik said, “It further strengthens the bond between Pakistan Coast Guards and Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences in pursuit of shared national objectives.”

Support for education and student welfare

In his message, Prof Tareen said the support from the Pakistan Coast Guards reflects stronger cooperation between public institutions.

He added that the assistance would help resolve operational transport issues and strengthen links between the university and the Coast Guard.

Students and faculty members have also welcomed the restoration of the buses, saying improved transport facilities will make daily travel to campus easier and safer for many students.
