The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the national squad for the upcoming ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup, with Farhan Yousaf appointed captain of the defending champions.
Pakistan will enter the tournament aiming to retain their title, with a 15-member squad selected for the continental competition scheduled to take place in Oman.
The squad includes Usman Khan, Hiyam Khan, Jahangir Bilal, Huzaifa Ahsan, Abdul Qadir, Hamza Zahoor, Ahmed Hussain, Hasnain Abbas Dar, Muhammad Huzaifa and Naqab Shafiq.
Ali Raza, Abdul Subhan, Muhammad Siam and Rizwanullah have also been named in the squad, joining the other selected players as Pakistan prepare for the tournament.
Farhan Yousaf will lead the young side as they look to continue Pakistan’s strong performances at the Under-19 level. The tournament will provide the team with an opportunity to test themselves against some of Asia’s leading young cricketing sides.
Pakistan have been placed in Group A alongside arch-rivals India, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Nepal. The group-stage fixtures will determine which teams progress to the next stage of the competition.
The clash against India is expected to be one of the key fixtures for Pakistan, given the longstanding rivalry between the two countries across different levels of international cricket. Matches against the UAE and Nepal will also be important as the defending champions seek to secure progression from their group.
The ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup is an important platform for emerging cricketers across the continent, offering young players the opportunity to gain experience in a competitive international environment.
With Farhan Yousaf at the helm, Pakistan will aim to make the most of their campaign in Oman and successfully defend their title against a competitive field of teams.
